Large fires hit garment warehouses in Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh.

On 19 May 2025, a terrible fire swept through more than 70 clothing warehouses in the village of Raninangal, causing losses estimated to be greater than ₹5 crore. According to information, a fire that began from faulty wiring around 7 PM and was made worse by strong winds burned for more than 10 hours before it was stopped at 5 AM.

Incident Overview

Approximately 500 warehouses in Raninangal focus on refurbishing and trading old clothes. The fire raged so brightly that it was seen and smelled 2 kilometers away which quickly led to panic and evacuations. All through the earthquake, no humans or animals were hurt or died.

Firefighting Efforts

Efforts were made using 14 fire apparatus from Moradabad, Rampur, Sambhal, and a private source. Firefighters used numerous efforts throughout the night to keep the fire from affecting any nearby houses.

Economic Impact

Many people who make their living trading locally are struggling, as the fire greatly disrupted their businesses. Most had to take large bank loans to get started, and the ruined products are causing major money-related problems for them. Ali Nawabi, who manages the local tradesmen, expressed great anxiety over the lack of a fire station in the area, no matter how many fires have happened.

Requests for Enhanced Safety Systems

The tragedy has revived talk about improving fire safety in industrial settings. Experts are encouraging local officials to build fire stations and enforce strong safety measures to help avoid such incidents in the future.
