The serial killer nicknamed ‘Doctor Death’ is now in jail after using crocodiles to dispose of his victims.

67-year-old Devender Sharma, an Ayurvedic doctor from Uttar Pradesh, has been arrested by police after it was discovered he killed several people and fed their bodies to crocodiles in the Hazara Canal.

How a Doctor’s Descent into Madness Began

Until he committed crimes, Devender Sharma from Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh, was highly esteemed as an Ayurvedic doctor. During the years 2002 and 2004, attacks linked to Sharma resulted in his conviction for several murders in the states of Delhi, Rajasthan, and Haryana. His approach was to offer taxi and truck drivers business involving trips across the country, kill them, and throw their bodies into the crocodile-filled waters of the Hazara Canal in Kasganj, Uttar Pradesh. Without recovered bodies, there was little evidence left to tie him to his crimes.

A Wide Net of Crime

Sharma also committed crimes apart from murder. For over a decade, probably from 1994 and 2005, Khorram was charged with being involved in a black market organ transplant racket, exploiting those who needed such treatment. He found profits across different areas, and he was understood to associate with many other top criminals engaged in the same businesses.

You can also face an arrest and sentencing through extradition.

It took years before officials captured Sharma, and he was handed down seven life imprisonment sentences in those years. The court in Gurgaon also gave him the capital penalty for what he did.

Legal Actions

The public has remained outraged after Sharma’s crimes and insisted on improved medicine and transport rules. According to legal experts, it is important to use long-term monitoring and thorough checks to prevent such people from exploiting openings in the system.
